Saying Thanks in a Very Big Way
Giving back is often an important step in the healing process following a traumatic life experience. From sharing personal stories of tragedy and triumph to raise awareness for a cause to competing in athletic events to raise funding for lifesaving research, giving back helps individuals and families find meaning in their experience while helping improve outcomes for others.
Each year, hundreds of NICU graduate families wishing to give back serve as Hand to Hold's Helping Hand peer mentors to provide support and encouragement to new families. To help underwrite this award-winning program as well as new educational outreach programs for NICU and bereaved families, Hand to Hold invites families to participate in the 2014 For the Love of Babies NICU Grand Prize Giveaway.
The NICU Grand Prize Giveaway invites families to tell their story, raise funds to benefit NICU and bereaved families, and win prizes on behalf of the hospital NICU where their child was born. It's a wonderful way to say "thanks" and make things better for fellow families who have shared a NICU experience and/or a loss. The top fundraiser in the contest, which ends April 11, 2014 at 5pm CT, will win the NICU Grand Prize Giveaway, a prize package worth $5,000 that can be given to the winner's favorite NICU.
The grand prize package includes a stipend to purchase a Kangaroo Care chair, breast pumps, clinical books and conference registration for the NICU director, NICU memoirs, children's books for the NICU and waiting area, a variety of neonatal equipment and supplies, and a one-year subscription to Hand to Hold's nationally endorsed NICU Resource Library. See a detailed listing of all the prizes. We are grateful to Acacia Neonatal, Barefoot Books, Dandle LION Medical, Dr. Sue Hall, Hand to Hold, Kasey Mathews, Mead Johnson Nutrition, Medela, Neotech Products, and Synova Associates for their contributions.
- The first 25 participants who register, set up their fundraising page, and make or receive a donation of $25 or more will be entered into a random drawing to win a gift card for $50 to purchase a piece of Kendra Scott Jewelry of their choice.
- Participants who raise $500 or more will receive a $25 electronic gift card to It’s a Preemie Thing, maker of NICU clothing and humorous t-shirts for little ones and the adults who love them.
- Those participants who raise $1,000 or more will have the option to underwrite a scholarship or choose a NICU to receive a one-year subscription to Hand to Hold’s NICU Resource Library, endorsed by the National Perinatal Association.
Through the generous support of corporate sponsors and individual donors, Hand to Hold is able to mitigate the negative impact of a NICU stay on families and ensure better outcomes for babies. We especially thank our campaign title sponsor Mead Johnson Nutrition for their continued support. Please take a few minutes to watch our new video to hear firsthand how Hand to Hold is making a meaningful difference in the lives of NICU families.
It is our hope that the NICU Grand Prize Giveaway contest will provide families a medium for sharing their stories and the opportunity to give back to help new families as they cope with a NICU stay and the challenges that often follow.
